[Note: the minutes this month were recorded by N9LF]

President Kevin, WN9O, called the meeting to order at 20:59.

The Minutes from the April meeting were approved as previously published.

There was no Treasurers report, as Treasurer Mike, N9NS, had traveled to Las Vegas. Rumors that the club checkbook traveled with him remain under investigation.

Old Business:

1. The Indiana QSO Party was discussed and reviewed. The general consensus was that it was a success, and that we hit our first year objectives. Most of the discussion centered changes for next year, specifically the start and end times. No conclusions were reached, but we heard some good ideas. We also discussed the awards and certificates to be issued for the 2002 party.

2. The next topic was Field Day. Plans are coming together. Kevin has the press release ready to go, but requested input on where to send it. Kevin will captain the 40 meter station and Mike Goode will captain the other HF station. Dave Zeph, W9ZRX, has purchased a six-meter beam for the VHF station. A satellite station will be set up by AB9V. Operators for the GOTA have been lined up and it is expected that they will easily reach the 400 QSO maximum.

Bonuses: Kevin reviewed the bonuses and the consensus was that we could earn nearly all of the available bonus points. K8JP will copy the ARRL bulletin. The demonstrations will include APRS and possibly SSTV and ATV.

Strategy: Work mostly CW (double the QSO value). We need to schedule operators in shifts to avoid down time.

Joe, K8JP, discussed tips and techniques for keeping a run going. He noted that cool versus hot weather presented different challenges and he made a suggestion or two about how to deal with certain necessities (decorum precludes specific mention here.)

New Business:

None.

DX AWARD: David N9KT for 319 QSOs in the TARA PSK31 Rumble.

CONTEST AWARD: Joe K8JP for 25 countries.

Next Meeting is scheduled for June 13, 2002 at the usual place and time.

The meeting adjourned at 21:50.
