Hoosier DX and Contest Club meeting minutes, 18 April 2002

The April 2002 meeting was held at the Yorkshire Rose Pub, Carmel. Members arrived for dinner at 6:30 PM. During dinner an informal presentation was given by N9KT and W9TN on their re-design of the club web site.

The meeting was called to order by WN9O at 9:05 PM. The minutes of the March meeting were read and accepted. N9NS gave the treasurer report indicating $534.74 is in the treasury.

OLD BUSINESS:

1. The INQP was discussed. W9TN said there was an error in the rules published in QST, the correct rules were on the club web site.

2. K9RU went to the Indiana Radio Club Council meeting and reported that Jim
Sellers/K9ZBM is the new Indiana SM, taking over in July. Jim mentioned at the meeting our sponsoring the INQP and asked all there to participate. We need to send $7.50 to renew our member ship in the IRCC, send to K9DUR.

3. W9ZRX mentioned that member W9JWR is still very ill with cancer. He appreciated receiving our get-well card.

4. W9ZRX posted a report on the cost of setting up KJ9D as an AR-cluster on the club web site. It could cost a little over $1000 if all new parts are used. Besides a new computer we would need two TNC’s and the AR software.

5. Field Day preparations are in progress. Some items discussed:
W9ZRX will be our host again. He has three computers available.
W9ZRX will contact W8JU & AB9V about making satellite contacts.
KJ9C may be able to give an APRS demo for some bonus points.
WN9O will take care of publicity.
K8JP will copy the ARRL bulletin and handle message traffic.
N9NS will make up a sign-up sheet to schedule operators.

NEW BUSINESS:

1. W9ZRX motioned we accept the new club site design and give a round of applause to N9KT & W9TN for the hours of work they put into it. Motion passed (applause).

2. N9NS mentioned the Dayton Hamvention is May 17-18-19th.

DX AWARD: David N9KT for 92 countries in March.

CONTEST AWARD: Don W9IU for 100 QSO’s in the WPX SSB contest, 1300 in the ARRL SSB DX contest.

The next meeting will be May 9th.

There being no further business the meeting was adjourned at 9:55 PM.
