Indiana QSO Party CQ INQP CQ INQP
Sponsored by HDXCCthe Hoosier DX and Contest Club

Like all major contests, INQP accepts logs in Cabrillo format only. No other format allows logs to be scanned, checked and scored automatically.

A sample Cabrillo log is seen below. The columns for the QSO data must be separated by spaces or tabs. The start and end positions for each column do not matter but each column must fall into the proper order as seen in the example. It is not necessary for the columns to line up (it looks pretty, but the computer does not care).

END-OF-LOG:
Notes:
  1. Each QSO shall be on a single line of text.

  2. The Cabrillo header contains quite a bit of information, some of which is optional. CALLSIGN, OPERATORS and ALL of the CATEGORY-* items are required. If any of these fields are missing, your log cannot be properly checked or scored.

  3. When operating on a county line, you may log one QSO for each county or log one QSO with both counties listed. For example:
    QSO: 7033 CW 2025-05-03 1900 N9NS 599 INTPP/INCLI WN9O 599 INTPT

    QSO: 7033 CW 2025-05-03 1900 N9NS 599 INTPP WN9O 599 INTPT
    QSO: 7033 CW 2025-05-03 1900 N9NS 599 INCLI WN9O 599 INTPT

Note that you must use a seperator character such as a slash (as shown) or something similar when you specify two QTHs. DO NOT use a space or tab.

Likewise when you work a station on a county border, you should log either two QSOs, one QSO for each received QTH, or one QSO with both QTHs listed. For example, both of the following are valid:
    QSO: 7033 CW 2025-05-03 1900 N9NS 599 INTPP WN9O 599 INTPT
    QSO: 7033 CW 2025-05-03 1900 N9NS 599 INTPP WN9O 599 INHOW

    QSO: 7033 CW 2025-05-03 1900 N9NS 599 INTPP WN9O 599 INTPT/INHOW

The Cabrillo files generated by most logging programs record only one QSO and list each county. Either format is acceptable.

  4. The official Cabrillo spec is found here: WWROF.

  5. Many old logging programs create log files that claim to be in Cabrillo format, but are in fact not quite right. Most such programs are long obsolete. We suggest you use a modern contest logger.
